“Be a sacrament for others just like Jesus was a sacrament for others,” said Bishop Raphy Manjaly, the Bishop of the Allahabad exhorting Sisters Renu CJ and Kiran CJ who were committing themselves by perpetual vows of poverty, chastity and obedience at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Allahabad on February 2, 2014.

In a touching ceremony, the parents of Sr. Renu and Sr.  Kiran offered their daughters to the Lord, a sign that they belong, henceforth, wholly to the Lord. The aspirants, Sr. Renu and Sr. Kiran were asked by Sr. Sumita Pinto, Provincial Superior of the Congregation of Jesus to declare publically their desire and readiness to take on themselves the responsibilities and demands of living a consecrated life under the vows.  The courageous women responded with a resounding ‘YES’ after which the Provincial gave them permission to make their commitment. At the most sacred moment of the Holy Mass, the two pronounced the vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and the fourth vow: obedience to the Pope while the entire Congregation gathered on the occasion, prayed earnestly for these young women that they may remain faithful to their commitment and find joy and fulfillment in their lives.

Sr. Daya, the silver jubilarian renewed her vows, thus declaring her decision to continue this way of life for the rest of her life. She has served in varying capacities as a nurse and a social worker in several parts of U.P. and Uttarakhand during the last 25 years. At present she is the Regional Programme Coordinator of UKSVK (Uttar Ksetriya Samaj Vikas Kendra) at Agra.

After the mass, the final professed sisters and the silver jubilarian were felicitated at the provincial house and a delicious lunch was served thereafter.
