Sacred Heart Convent School, Obra celebrates the Golden Jubilee
The Sacred Heart Convent School, Obra celebrated - “Jubilate” - the Golden Jubilee of their existence and their contribution in the field of education, on Saturday, November 22, 2014 with a concelebrated high mass in the morning at 10.30 with Most Rev. Raphy Manjaly, the bishop of Allahabad as the main celebrant and an entertaining cultural evening at 4.30 pm. The Bishop was the chief guest for the program while Mr. Ajay Sharma and Mr. Sanjay Tiwari were the guests of honour.
It may be recalled that Sacred Heart Convent School an English medium Co-Educational institution was established in 1965 with a humble beginning at office Club No.1, to cater to the need of providing English medium education to the children of UPSEB employees. The school got affiliation with CBSE board in 1979 and at present it is located in the heart of the city of Obra. Since its inception the school has been trailblazer in the field of education and has been providing quality education to the children of Obra, Chopan and Dalla.
The Bishop felicitated the Sisters of Ursuline Mary Immaculate for their selfless service in educating the young minds not just with knowledge but also with kingdom values. He urged the students to work untiringly for three-fold commitments, that is, commitment to oneself, commitment to the society and the commitment to God.
Earlier the Bishop offered solemn Eucharist along with the priests of the region, parishioners and guests, and prayed for the Ursuline Sisters, teachers, students and the families of the students. At the end of the Mass all the sisters who served in Obra were honoured with a shawl by the Bishop. Besides the Provincial Sr. Rupa, all the principals too were in a similar way honoured during the cultural program by the Bishop. Three teachers and two supporting staff too were honoured for their long tenure of service in this institution. The students who topped in March 2014 too were awarded with the trophies.
The colourful cultural program consisting of rhythmic group songs, inspiring skits and scintillating dances kept every one spell bound. The program ‘God still loves the world’ brought out beautifully how various prophetic figures emerged to let the world know how God still loves the world. The prophetic works of Mother Brigida Moreillo were the ones which inspired the Ursulines to work vigourously for the uplift of the society though education, health and social works. Everyone was wonderstruck with the quality with which the program was presented by the students. The students too beautifully anchored the program.
Sr. Kiran Goerge, the principal welcomed everyone for this auspicious celebration. Sr. Patricia, the Superior and Manager of the School proposed vote of thanks. The program ended with the national anthem followed by the sumptuous dinner to the invitees.
