SJC - New Primary Building Inaugurated

Unveilingthe stone, handing over the gong of the bell, cutting the ribbon and blessingthe building with holy water by the chief guest Most Rev. Ignatius Menezes theApostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Allahabad marked the inauguration ofthe newly constructed building of the primary section of St. Joseph’s College,Allahabad in the adjacent of Sadhna Sadan campus on the eve of Saturday 6thJune 2013.

Atthe very outset the chief guest unveiled the stone of the new building of St.Joseph’s College after which he handed over the gong of the bell to thePrincipal symbolizing the peaceful and joyful beginning of school activities inthe new building. The Principal, Vice principal - Rev. Fr. Ravi Joseph and the Headmaster-Fr. George Rodrigues then rang the bell to inaugurate the new building.

Most  Rev. Ignatius Menezes then cut the ribbon heraldinga new era of education in one of the most prestigious colleges having a richlist of illustrious alumni spread all over the world glorifying the name of thecollege.

ThePrincipal accorded a floral welcome to the Most Rev. Ignatius Menezes, Fr. K.K.Antony, Fr. J.B. Castelino, Justice R.D Khare, Mrs. Rita Bahuguna Joshi and toMr. Anugrah Narayan. The prayers were sung followed by some mellifluousrenditions which earned the appreciation of one and all.

Abeautiful para-liturgy was organized in view of the blessings after which eachfloor of the building was blessed by distinguished priests Fr. Francis, Rectorof St. Joseph’s Seminary, Fr. K. K. Anthony, Director of Nazareth Hospital, Fr.Baptist Castelino, Rector of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Fr. Damien, Parish Priestof St. Patrick’s Church, Fr. Ravi Joseph and Fr. George Rodrigues,Vice-Principal and Headmaster of St. Joseph’s College respectively. The Bishop,in his address, praised Fr. Louis’s vision of installing smart classes and saidthat education should be geared towards the service to God and mankind. He stressedthat education should create an atmosphere of brotherhood.

Earlier,the primary section students of the college sang a hymn named “Footsteps” symbolizing the 128 years ofsuccessful march of glory of the college. The students then presented somebeautiful dance performances adding colour to the festivities in an otherwisehot and humid weather.

Expressinghis sincere gratitude and thanks to all those people who were associated withthe construction of the building Principal Rev. Fr. Louis Mascarenhas presentedthem with gifts as token of love. Mr. A. McGowan concluded the program with avote of thanks.
