Sr. Celestia bids Adieu
Rev. Sr. Celestia, aged 65, belonging to the Congregation of Ursulines of Mary Immaculate, Lucknow Province breathed her last at 3.00 am on 13th February 2013 in Mariampur Convent, Kanpur. Born in the family of Mr. Kuriakose and Mrs. Elizabeth in 1948, Sr. Celestia originally belonged to St. George’s Church,
Vazhakulam in Kothamangalam diocese in Kerala. She was the third among the seven children born to the Kuriakose family. She embraced religious life at a young age of 17 in 1965 and completed all her formation in Ursuline Convent Kannur, Kerala. After her first vows in 1968 she completed her graduation from St. Anne’s College, Mangalore from where she did also her B. Ed at a later stage. She dedicated her total self to the Lord in 1973. From 1976, till her last breath she spent her life as an educationist in Allahabad, Varanasi and Bareilly dioceses. The diocese of Allahabad places on record the services rendered by her in Sacred Heart School Obra, St. Joseph’s School, Robertganj, Nirmala Convent School, Renukoot and St. Joseph’s Convent Chakeri. The mortal remains of Sr. Celestia will be buried in the Christian Cemetery, Laalkurti, Kanpur after the funeral services in St. Joseph’s Convent, Chakeri at 3.00 pm on 14 th February 2013 in the presence of their Provincial Sr. Carol, the newly elected Provincial Sr. Rupa, the parish priest Rev. Fr. John Lobo, many other priests, religious and laity. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul rest in peace.
