The soul of our dear Sister Mary Canice of Infant Jesus, belonging to the Congregation of the Bethany Sisters, departed this life due to a massive heart attack today (on 18.07.2014) at 10.45 a.m. in the 55^th year of her Religious Profession and 78^th year of her life. She was a member of Stella Maris Convent, Sultanpur. May her soul rest in peace.

Hailed from Kuntalpadi, Karkala, Udupi Distt, Karnataka, she was the youngest among the nine children of Late Mr Paul Pinto and Late Mrs Clara Pinto. After her First Profession in 1959 she served in our communities at Bajpe, Bendore, Mudigere, Kulshekar, Bangalore, Mulki, Sultanpur, Ludhiana, Kadru, Samalka, Bathinda and Ludhiana as a teacher, Superior of communities, and in-charge of candidates. She was the Regional Superior of Northern and North East Region for six years. From 2002 onwards she was spending her time in prayer and works of charity.

She was always cheerful and lived a disciplined life. Her only desire was to be a Saint. She was a deeply spiritual person, loving and understanding, kind and charitable, simple in her lifestyle and childlike in her attitudes, and ever willing to render any service to others.

The funeral Ceremony will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, 20.07.2014 at St Joseph’s Cathedral, Allahabad. Sr. Shaila BS, the Provincial Superior of the Eastern Province will be present to bid her farewell from this earth.
