Description: A solemn united Christian prayer service was held at St. Joseph’s College Campus on 2nd October 2015. Gandhi Jayanti was a fitting occasion to pray for the nation as Gandhiji lived and died for this great nation. It was a united Christian prayer service in which all the Churches in Allahabad such as Church of North India, Roman Catholic Church, Methodist Church and other Pentecostal Churches took active part in paying for the nation. The prayer service began with welcome by the Convener, Fr. Leo Sequeira. The Bishops and the representatives of different Churches lighted the lamp followed by a prayer by Rt. Rev. Raphy Manjaly. Rev. Udit Sona explained the purpose of the prayer service. He said that as concerned and responsible citizens it is our duty to pray for the nation. There were twenty prayers recited by different Churches and in between the different prayer there were prayer sings, Bhajans, and congregational hymns. The large crowd in one voice prayed for constitution heads- president, vice-president, governors, Prime Minister and his cabinet colleagues, elected representatives, Supreme Court and High Court Judges, Civil Servant, Election Commission, forth coming elections, print and electronic media, economic stability, family, youth, women and children, diverse communities, peace, justice, poor and the needy, reconciliation and harmony. Our Chief Guest honorable Mr. Immanuel IPS, SSP Allahabad appreciated the combined efforts to organize such a beautiful prayer service, praying for the nation. Rt. Rev. Raphy Manjaly gave the final blessing followed by vote of thanks by the co-convener Rev. Rajan Das. He extended a word of appreciation for the organizing committee, especially Rt. Rev Raphy Manjaly for taking the initiative and Fr. Rolfie D’Souza, Principal St. Joseph’s College for making all the necessary arrangements.
